The problem
Fans, DJs and sound systems had no direct online way to commission a custom dubplate from a top Caribbean Dancehall or Reggae artist. Bookings happened through informal contacts, with no protection for the buyer and no tooling for the artist.
The build
Built a marketplace that connects buyers directly to the artists. Payment is taken with Stripe and held in escrow until the artist delivers, so nobody gets burned. Artists get their own dashboard with Spotify links, audio upload and download, and an in-browser recording studio with a live decibel meter so they can record the voiceover, shoutout or drop without leaving the site.
The outcome
Live in production with 49+ top artists on the roster and a 24 hour average response time. The first online dubplate marketplace of its kind. Built over three months as a self-funded product.
